Friday ramblings

A friend asked me the other day why it is I dislike country music so much, and the old answer was mostly I just thought it sucked; but today I think I have a more clearly defined answer: to me the entire genre is built on racism.  It's nothing but music by white people, in particular white southerners, for white people.  How many black or asian country artists are there (except for "Mr. Sulu" of course)?  I suppose this may be the underlying reason why I also don't like hip-hop too much, in that it is mostly music by black people for black people.  My favorite types of music are usually those that transcend being defined by any particular audience ethnicity.  Perhaps as a musical challenge in the studio I'll make a new track combining both country and hip-hop, and perhaps Ill get something that bridges the gap - there's also the chance that it might just suck to the 2nd power.  Who knows.

It's been a crazy week and there's lots to catch up on, so I'll be back at it sporadically throughout the weekend to update and hopefully post a new broadcast.
