Vaccination Harassment, Discrimination and Coercion Accounts Needed to Fight AB2109
Dear California NVIC Advocacy Team Members,
Have you even been harassed or bullied for making informed vaccination choices or utilizing a personal belief exemption in the state of California? Have doctors, nurses, or staff members in a medical office ever treated you disrespectfully or tried to threaten or coerce you or deny you or your child care over your vaccination decisions? Has the education, employment, or medical treatment of any of your family members ever been threatened or denied over vaccination status?
If your answer is yes to any of these questions, we need you as soon as possible to fill out a very short form summarizing what happened so we can share it with legislators to counter Assembly Member Dr. Richard Pan who is currently trying to restrict your vaccine exemption rights with AB2109 by making you go to medical office to receive “vaccine education” and a medical provider’s signature in order for your personal belief exemption to be valid.

Recently, when your NVIC State Team Directors Dawn Winkler and Michelle Gutierrez were in Sacramento talking to legislators about why AB2109 needed to be defeated, the bill sponsor himself, Assembly Member Dr. Richard Pan, denied that these accounts of being bullied and denied care over vaccination choices happen. He challenged your State Directors Dawn and Michelle to produce proof. Proof is what Dr. Pan wants, proof is what he and the rest of the committee will get. Central to the problem with this bill is the way many doctors and medical staff treat families. It is unlikely they will sign anyone’s form when they won’t even see families in their offices. We know it happens, you know it happens, it is in the medical literature that it happens, so NVIC wants to make sure your elected California legislators get it loud and clear from you, the people who vote and pay taxes in California, that it happens.
